The University of Washington Bothell commencement ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the Bank of America Arena, Hec Edmundson Pavilion.

UW Bothell is pleased to announce Greg Mortenson as the speaker for its 17th annual commencement ceremony.
Mortenson is an internationally renowned humanitarian, author and mountaineer who has dedicated his life to promoting literacy programs and building schools in the remote mountain regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Through his efforts, Mortenson has helped establish over 61 schools in these regions which provide education to over 25,000 children, including 14,000 girls, where few educational opportunities existed before.
He is co-founder and Executive Director of the non-profit Central Asia Institute and its Pennies for Peace Project, and is co-author of the New York Times bestseller Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace....One School at a Time, which has been a bestseller since its 2007 release.
His messages of peace and promotion of literacy have made him a highly sought-after public speaker and have garnered him world-wide support and recognition.
At the ceremony, Mortenson will receive an honorary degree for his public service and contributions to education.
