I enjoy creative writing and journalism.
I love writing because it is so versatile. Every
individual has the creative liberty to do
anything that she or he wants. Writing is not
about using big vocabulary words or eloquent
language; it is about communicating thoughts and emotions. Whether writing a personal narrative or a scientific research paper, I have the freedom to create. Writing is only bound by the extent of my imagination. My favorite part of writing is voice—using my own style that shows who I am are through words.
For a while, the hardest part of writing for me was transferring my ideas into words on paper –a constant writer’s block. I would sit at my desk for an hour, staring at my monitor, struggling to articulate my thoughts into the right words. After a while, I learned that writing is a process.
You just need to write and pump something out. Don’t censor yourself. Don’t be your own inner-critic. Even if your paper says the word “interesting” fifteen times, it’s okay! You can always go back, revise, and rewrite. Writing is a multi-step process that takes work.
I enjoy working as a writing consultant because I can to help my peers realize that writing is not intimidating. I want to share my love for writing with others and show them that anyone can write. Anyone.
