Interdisciplinary Studies/Culture, Literature, and the Arts
I'm most interested in research writing and memoirs.
Once upon a time, in the dry, remote land of rural Nevada, there lived a girl who loved stories above all else. In childhood, she immersed herself in any book that came to hand, delighting in tales of far off places and lives more exciting than her own. When she grew into an adult, she packed up her library and headed off to the gray and soggy wetlands of Bothell, Washington. And there she remains to this day, still avidly collecting stories.
I believe that story telling is an essential part of any culture. Stories connect us; they tell us who we are, explain where we came from, and demonstrate what is important to us. We are defined by the stories that comprise our lives, and by learning to share our stories in a way that others can understand, we learn how to share ourselves. Although I am also strongly interested in oral storytelling, I believe that written forms of communication have a great deal of importance, particularly in a culture where much of our storytelling is done in internet blogs.
Each person has their own story to tell and their own method of expressing that story. We each have different strengths and weakness, but by working with other writers, each of us can learn to communicate more efficiently. As a Writing Consultant, my goal is to help you express your ideas-whether it be through providing feedback on a paper or acting as a sounding board for generating ideas.
