Master of Arts in Cultural Studies
Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences: Culture, Literature, and the Arts, BA, UW Bothell, 2009
My major writing interests are academic writing and short stories/novels.
I have always known I wanted to be a writer. The journey has been long and winding, but I am finally getting there. My educational path began thirty years ago at UW Seattle, where I completed two years before dropping out to raise a family.
Last year, at the age of 48, I graduated from Cascadia Community College with my two-year degree. I am now a senior at UWB, majoring in IAS, with a concentration in Culture, Literature, and the Arts. I will begin the Master of Arts in Cultural Studies program in autumn 2009.
The Writing Center allows me to do something I love: help others find their "writer's voice." My favorite stage of the writing process is the end, where I can look at a paper or project and say "You know what? That's pretty good!" My goal at the Writing Center is to help my fellow classmates be able to look at their work and say "That's pretty good! It's really good!"
