Gene Fowler once said, “Writing is easy. All you do is stare at a blank sheet of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead.” While many writers might empathize with that statement, as a tutor I hope to convey a sense that writing is also a pleasure.

It is enchanting, this ability we have to compose our thoughts, to move them from dream to page for others to read and digest. We may bleed a bit to craft our work, but how lovely it is to express a thing and to be understood!
Writing is also a foundational life skill. I learn something new from every piece I write, and those lessons inform my other creative work as a musician, visual artist and filmmaker.

Ultimately, my goal as a tutor is to help my fellow students overcome the painful aspects of composition to achieve clarity and beauty in their writing.
