2nd Annual TEC Business Plan Competition - Your chance to win $20,000!

On Friday January 27th, The Entrepreneurship Center (TEC) at UW Bothell will be kicking off our 2nd Annual Business Plan Competition.  Here is what you need to know for a shot at $20,000 in cash and prizes:

 1.        Business Plans must be submitted by 4PM on Friday April 6th, 2012.  This is the Friday immediately after Spring Break.  Plans should be submitted via email to jgodek@uwb.edu

 2.       Approximately sixteen (16) teams will be selected to move on to the Semi-Final round on April 20th, and 4-5 teams will be chosen to compete in the Finals on May 4th.  Both Semi-Finalists and Finalists will be assigned industry or faculty mentors to help them refine their plans for the next round of competition.

3.       In order to compete all you need is an idea for a new product or service that you think other people will be interested in.  TEC will help you put together a polished business plan with a series of workshops starting on January 27th.  Palo Alto Software will again provide our competitors with free software for drafting business plans.

4.       The first workshop on January 27th will include past winners and finalists who will be available to answer questions to help you find out what it takes to win the big money (the winning team last year pocketed $18,000 in cash and a grant to the Founder Institute valued at $5000).

5.       We’ll have weekly Friday workshops to help you build the various sections of your business plan.  At these workshops you can also meet other students in different programs in order to build your team or even join other teams in order to compete.

Competition Dates:

  • Friday, April 6   - Business Plans are Due
  • Friday, April 20 - Semi-final, UWB1 - Vista
  • Friday, May 4    - Final Round, Northcreek Events Center

6.       All Semi-Finalists and Finalists will be provided with a great opportunity to present their plans to influential industry leaders.  So even if you don’t win the big money, you still gain networking opportunities that are extremely valuable for future employment or venture capital.
