Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (CACES)

The University of Washington Bothell Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (CACES) is an advisory body established to coordinate and guide progress in fulfilling the commitment to environmental sustainability identified as a priority through the UW Bothell’s strategic planning processes. The committee will advise the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors and will report annually to the campus.

The CACES will work to promote and facilitate the cooperative efforts of our community members, including faculty, students and staff, to educate, develop values, share knowledge, recommend policies, and implement practices that are sustainable.

Quick Facts

  • UW Bothell has been herbicide-free since 2006
  • All campus lighting is high-efficient, 277 volt, with electronic ballasts.
  • Our campus uses only green cleaning products.
  • We have 58 acres of restored wetlands requiring 5,300 hours of labor to maintain.
  • We use Red Wrigglers worms to compost our garbage.
  • A computerized irrigation system saves water.
  • All HVAC and external lighting is controlled by automated systems.
