Climate Science and Policy (B.S.)
As greenhouse gas emissions and global temperatures continue to rise, climate change will become one of the defining issues of the 21st century. How we respond will affect our economy and environment for generations.
UW Bothell is the first institution in the country to offer an undergraduate major (B.S) in Climate Science and Policy. The major is a true interdisciplinary curriculum providing students fundamental knowledge in math, chemistry, physics, policy and economics, along with detailed understanding of the scientific and societal issues important to the earth’s climate system.
Climate Science and Policy Prerequisites
Students may apply for admission with a combined 20 credits from the following:
Math: Calculus I, Calculus II
Physics: Mechanics, Electromagnetism and Oscillatory Motion
Chemistry: General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II, General Chemistry III
Climate Science and Policy
Students with a Bachelor of Science in Climate Science and Policy can pursue career paths in industries, public agencies, and non-governmental organizations that are affected by climate change policies or the impacts of climate change. These include:
- Environment and natural resource management
- Insurance and reinsurance
- Conventional and alternative energy
- Public health
- Conservation
- Sustainability
- Education
- Research
