Government departments and agencies at the state level fund projects and administer federal block grants, but information on state programs is not as easily accessible as federal resources on the Web. Example Web sites:

Federal

The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance: searchable full-text available on the website; the primary source for information on federal grants and non-financial assistance programs, although actual funding depends upon annual budget appropriations. For example, some programs may exist in the catalog but receive no funding in a certain budget year.

Grants.gov is the essential federal grants website that allows organizations to electronically find and apply for competitive grant opportunities from all federal grant-making agencies.

U.S. Senate

U.S. Senate offices have staff dedicated to grant and contract procurement and support in their respective states. Search their Web sites under "grants" or Sen. Patty Murray's Grant Gateway These offices could be helpful for assistance in contacting federal grant agencies and key agency personnel directly; providing letter of support (with two-weeks notice); reiterate support as may be needed; check status of review process; provide funding notifications (often two-weeks in advance of us!).
