Orientation

The RN-to-BSN program has a required new nursing-only student orientation for new Mount Vernon in September for new BSN students starting Autumn Quarter. A sample schedule, from the Autumn 2011 orientation, is available here.
Pre-BSN students starting in the Mount Vernon location summer quarter do not go through a new student orientation prior to Summer, but are instead expected to attend the Autumn orientation. Your academic advisor will assist you with Summer registration and basic logistical details with enrolling and attending the Summer course. Pre-BSN status is not available in Mount Vernon any other quarter.
New Pre-BSN students attending classes on the Bothell campus starting Winter or Spring quarters have to attend a required new general transfer student orientation before their start quarter before they are allowed to register for classes; new Autumn Pre-BSN students at Bothell would attend the regular Nursing orientation instead.
UW HIPAA Training for BSN students at Orientation
One requirement that will be introduced for new BSN students, but not Pre-BSN students, at Orientation, is the requirement to complete UW HIPAA training. Please note that new students will not be signed up for this training prior to Orientation, so please do not attempt to complete this training early. Instructions for completing UW HIPAA training are available here. If you have completed prior UW HIPAA training through your employer or prior clinical training, please be sure to notify your academic advisor after your orientation session. Unfortunately completion of any other versions of HIPAA training are not acceptable substitutes for UW HIPAA training.
