Bothell Campus RN-to-BSN Program Summary
Prospective Students
The RN-to-BSN Program is for nurses who have completed an Associates or Diploma nursing program, have their RN license already or who will take the NCLEX-RN exam and earn their license by the end of their second quarter at UW Bothell, and who desire to earn their BSN.
Prospective UW Bothell students who want to become nurses should be aware that UW Bothell offers neither an initial nursing degree program nor most of the required prerequisite courses to enter an initial nursing degree program. Please read the available information about where you can earn an initial nursing degree and prepare to transfer to UW Bothell.
Program Location and Class Day
Classes are held on the Bothell campus. Core classes meet either on Tuesdays or on Thursdays; students are required to commit to a core course class day upon admission to the program. Summer admits have the option of both Tuesday and Thursday core course class days; Autumn admits only have the option of Thursday core course class days. Electives may be taken on any day(s), as long as electives do not conflict with the core course class times.
Program Start
New nursing classes are admitted for both Summer and Fall Quarter starts (June or September). If you are interested in applying, application details are available in the admissions section. Prospective students who desire to start at other times may be admitted as Pre-BSN students, and are then eligible to take the required non-Nursing electives or complete admission requirements for full admission to the Nursing Program.
Program Completion
Students can complete the program in four quarters if they start the program summer quarter and enroll for a full-time course load. Otherwise, students enroll as part-time students and complete the program in five to nine quarters. To view possible course schedules, please see the BSN Program Curriculum.
How the Program Works
To earn your BSN at UW Bothell, you must complete 30 credits of core Nursing classes and 15 credits of required UW Bothell non-Nursing elective courses. If you are admitted with missing UW Bothell admission, general education, or nursing prerequisite course requirements, those will also need to be completed before graduation. You need to earn at least 180 credits for the BSN, and the breakdown of credits is:
90 Transfer credits
45 NCLEX exam credits
30 Upper-division nursing credits
15 Required UW Bothell electives credits
180 Total credits for the BSN degree
For a list of the courses you will take each quarter, please see the BSN Program Curriculum. A list of Nursing admission requirements is also available.
