RN-BSN: How to Apply
Application Materials
Students are admitted to the RN-BSN program on an annual basis for either summer or autumn start. Start the process today by either applying online or downloading the application materials.
Application Deadlines
- Early Admissions: October 1
Finishing your ADN degree by the next cohort start date? You can apply now. - Summer Start Priority Deadline: February 1
- North Counties-Mount Vernon site Priority Deadline: April 1
- Autumn Start--UW Bothell campus Priority Deadline: May 1
Applications received after the priority deadline are considered on a space available basis
General UW Admissions Requirements
- A minimum of 80 quarter credits
- Two years in high school or two quarters in college of a single foreign language
- Two years of high school Algebra or Intermediate Algebra in College
- 5 credits English Composition
- 5 credits* Quantitative/Symbolic Reasoning (College math or Logic)
- 15 credits Visual, Literary, and Performing Arts (Humanities)
- 15 credits Individuals and Societies (Social Sciences)
*May be waived depending on statistics course
UW Bothell Nursing Program Prerequisites
- 5 credits Inorganic Chemistry
- 3 credits Microbiology
- 3 credits Statistics
- 10 credits Anatomy and Physiology (may be taken by program-approved proficiency exam)
- Associate degree (ADN**) or diploma in nursing
- Successful completion of NCLEX Exam**
- Proof of current licensure for practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington**
- A grade of 2.0 or higher is required in each Nursing program prerequisite, English Composition, and Intermediate Algebra if taken in college. Applicants must show evidence of good academic standing (an overall transfer point average of 2.0 or higher) to be considered for admission.
** Pre-licensure nursing students may apply if graduating before BSN program start date. New graduates will be offered "conditional admission" pending successful NCLEX exam and RN licensure.
FAQs
What if I already have a previous bachelor's degree?
RN's who already have a bachelor's degree in another field and have an RN license Nursing are welcome to come complete the BSN program or may look at the option of applying to the MN program
Will it be possible for me to continue working while I am enrolled in this program?
Most students continue to work while they are enrolled in the program.
WA State/UW Tuition Exemption
State Employee Tuition Exemption can be used for a limited number of UW Bothell Nursing or Health courses on a space-available basis only. Make sure to read the UW Bothell Tuition Exemption Policy.
