BOTHELL, Wash. - University of Washington Bothell Chancellor Kenyon S. Chan has announced a new partnership with major research outlet the Center on Reinventing Public Education.

The Center, founded in 1993, is changing its affiliation from the UW Seattle Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs to UW Bothell. Says Chan, "This change will provide UW Bothell students with unique training opportunities and access to top-notch research in the area of school reform."

Directed by Dr. Paul Hill, the Center focuses on policy-oriented research on K-12 public education: financing, human resources, governance, equity and effectiveness. Its main goal is to change the national debate about public education by breaking the deadlock between those who would preserve every aspect of the current public education system no matter how unproductive, and those who would abandon any form of public oversight in favor of a complete free market for schools.

With the new arrangement, the Center will be housed both in Seattle and at UW Bothell. For more information on the Center on Reinventing Public Education, visit http://www.crpe.org/.
