Adobe Software

Adobe Systems is a software developer that focuses on multimedia and creativity applications. You may be familiar with some of its popular titles like Photoshop, Acrobat Reader, and Flash Player. This software is already part of the UWB standard software image, which allows students and faculty to freely access them at workstations across campus. If you are interested in any Adobe products for home use, you can purchase them at reduced prices from UWare or the University Bookstore. Adobe Reader and Flash Player are free and can be downloaded online.

Common Adobe Software Titles

Adobe Reader

Adobe Reader is a free-to-use application that can open Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Such files are very common and you are likely to encounter them in some of your UWB classes, especially if your instructor is having you read scanned materials or using e-reserves.

Adobe Flash Player

Adobe Flash Player is a free-to-use browser plug-in that displays the rich-media elements in many websites. These elements are often used to play compressed video clips or add some level of interaction to a website. Without the Flash Player, you will not be able to see the parts of the website that run in Flash. As with PDFs, these elements are very common, making this plug-in useful to install.
