Blackboard Known Issues

The following are technical issues commonly experienced with Blackboard 9.1. Please check this page first if you are experiencing any difficulties while performing tasks on Blackboard.

  • Issues uploading course documents - several faculty members have had issues uploading course documents to their Blackboard courses. Blackboard is still unaware of the cause of this issue, but we have found a work-around for it by making a duplicate copy of the course. Please contact learningtech@uwb.edu if you are having this problem.
  • Problems with Blackboard and Internet Explorer - many users have experienced sluggishness or errors while using Blackboard with Internet Explorer--even the most recent version. It is recommended that you install an alternative Internet browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. From our testing, these browsers work much better than IE when using Blackboard.
  • User is locked out of a copied course - some users may incorrectly copy a course, causing them to no longer have access to it. If this happens, please contact learningtech@uwb.edu, so that we can reset instructor roles.
  • The Course Menu (Content Area) is missing from the main course page - sometimes, when users go to their course page, the course menu appears to be missing--they can only see the default front page (usually Announcements). To fix this, look on the right side of the page and find the tab with a right-facing arrow. If you click it, the content area should reappear.
