Search

• If the search bar is not visible (which is done to save display space), you may click on the Search button to reveal it. You can find the Search button on the top right of any discussion board view.
• Fill out the appropriate fields in the search bar and click GO to look for posts.

Subscribe

• Before anyone can subscribe to any forums or threads on the discussion board, the subscription option needs to be enabled. You may do this either when you are creating the forum or by going to Control Panel > Discussion Board > discussion board name and clicking on the chevron icon of the forum name.
• From the drop-down menu that appears, click Edit.
• While in the Edit Forum screen, scroll down to Forum Settings. Under the Subscribe option, click the bubble next to either Allow members to subscribe to threads or Allow members to subscribe to forum.
• When you are finished, click Submit.

If you have enabled this forum option, you may choose to receive an email message when a new post is made by clicking on the Subscribe button at the top of a thread's or forum's page. The email will be sent from the Blackboard application to the address entered in your Personal Profile. When you are subscribed to a forum or a thread (depending on which one has been enabled), you will see the subscription icon at the top left. In addition, the Subscribe button will be replaced with an Unsubscribe button, which you may click to stop receiving email updates.

Flag

• Flagging allows you to create a reference to a post for yourself, so that you have a reminder to respond at a later time or to simply keep track of it. To flag a post, simply check its box and hover your mouse over the Message Actions button at the top. From there, choose Flag to flag the post, or Clear Flag to take away a flag from a post. Flagged posts will have a red flag displayed next to their Subject line. If you have opened a post within a thread that you would like to flag, simply go again to Message Actions > Set Flag from the individual post view.

Collect

• Collecting can be used to print posts from the discussion board. To do so, check the boxes of the posts you wish to include and click the Collect button next to Message Actions. You may instead check a thread's box to collect every post within it.

• On the next screen, click Print Preview to see a preview of the document and send posts to the printer.

• Once you click Print Preview, two windows will appear. One will show a preview of what the posts will look like when they print. The other window will send the document to the printer once you've reviewed the information and selected OK.
