Course Reports
Instructors can generate course reports to view the statistics and usage of a particular area in their Blackboard course. Currently, there are four different reports on user activity that are available to run: content area activity, forum activity, group activity and overall activity.
- To run a course report, go to Control Panel > Evaluation > Course Reports.

- On the Course Report page, choose which report you would like to run. Click on the
icon next to your choice, and select Run.

- You will be redirected to choose the specific information you wish to include in your course report. Select the format you would like the report to be in (PDF, HTML, Excel, or Word), the users included in the report, and the time frame you wish the report to apply to.
- If you would like to select all users, click the first name on the list, scroll to the bottom, hold down the Shift key, and click the last name on the list. If you would like to select only certain users, hold down the Ctrl key while you simultaneously click on users' names.

- Once your report has run, it will pop up in a new window. A page confirming success will appear, along with further options for the report. You may save the report to your course's content collection, download the report for later access on your computer, or run a new report on a different area of the course.
- If you would like to do none of these things and are finished working with the report, click the OK button in the lower right corner of the screen.

Early Warning System
The Early Warning System is a tool that allows students to be notified when they are doing poorly in the course. The instructor creates a set of rules that will determine when to send the students a warning about their performance. Once the student meets the criteria for a rule, they will receive an email notification. Rules can be based on due dates, test scores, course grade, or course usage.
- To access the Early Warning System to create or review rules, go to Control Panel > Evaluation > Early Warning System.
- Hover your mouse over the Create Rule button at the top of the screen. Choose whether you'd like to create a:
- Grade Rule, which will create a rule based on any grade (course grade or specific assignment) posted on Blackboard. The student will be warned if they have received below a set grade.
- Last Access Rule, which will send a warning if the student has not logged into their course for a specific number of days.
- Due Date Rule, which will send a warning if the student hasn't turned in an assignment that is past its due date.

- Once you are at the specific rule creation page, fill out all required fields for your rule. The preferences for each type of rule will differ.

- When you are finished, click the Submit button.
- Your new rule will appear under the main Early Warning System page, where you will be redirected after submission.

- You can go back into the rule's edit mode by clicking the
icon next to the rule and clicking Edit. From this menu you can also delete, refresh, or set a rule as available or unavailable.

Performance Dashboard
The Performance Dashboard is a page that shows each member of the course's activity in the Blackboard course. This tool displays information on things like discussion board posts, number of early warnings, days since last course access, and a link to grades in table format.
