Digital Media Services offers digital media related tutoring for students, in class media production workshops, and online tutorial services for faculty, staff and students. We also work with faculty to develop and refine digital media-related assignments and courses.

Media Related News and Events Around the Community:

  • NW College Film Festival  (02-26-2013) - The Northwest College Film Festival was started by the Shoreline Community College Film Club in 2012 to promote student film and video work in the area and, also, provide an opportunity for students and faculty to network with one another.  This year we hope to increase the number of entries by eliminating the submission fee (Yes, it is completely free to enter!) and offering prizes to the winners from our community sponsors: the Seattle International Film Festival, Cinema Books, the Grand Illusion, the Northwest Film Forum, Reel Grrls, and Scarecrow Video.

More information about the festival can be found on:
    Their webpage: http://new.shoreline.edu/dramavideo/nw-college-film-festival.aspx

Digital Media Labs at UWB:

The Digital Media Lab 121 (UW2-121):

The STF-funded Digital Media Lab 121 (located in UW2-121) is equipped with 24 iMac stations that contain professional-level, Macintosh-platform digital media software as well as simpler digital media-making applications. The room is intended for both classroom instruction as well as serving as an open lab space where students, faculty, and staff can drop in to work on their digital media-related projects.

Our on-site digital media tutors are available to guide students, faculty and staff on digital media-related projects during tutoring lab hours - posted each quarter on the DML 121 calendar. During all other hours, people needing technical assistance may contact the IT Helpdesk at ext. 2-3456.

Multimedia Studio (IT Helpdesk):

A unique facility for students creating multimedia projects and presentations:

  • Reservable workstations
  • One on one help with video and audio editing
  • A place to convert video and audio from various analog and digital sources
  • Import video from DVDs, VHS, Laserdisc and more
  • Save your files on USB Devices and DVD's

The Open Learning Lab (UW2-140):

The computing lab in UW2-140 houses 34 Windows PCs as well as 4 Apple iMacs. These iMacs mirror the computers in UW2-121 and contain all DML software with the exception of ProTools LE. Students, faculty and staff may work on digital media projects here when the DML is full or being used for a class. You can find the lab just down the hall from the DML on the second floor of UW2. UW2-140 is open for use on a walk-in basis, and its hours reflect the UW2 building hours for the current quarter/interim.
