Car Charging Stations on Campus
The six UW Bothell stations are housed inside two parking garages on campus. The electricity will be free, but there will be a fee for the parking spaces. The project was in conjunction with the roll out of 4,700 Nissan electric LEAF sedans in the Northwest. With the combination of Nissan’s highly efficient vehicle and the new charging stations at UW Bothell, patrons will be able to charge their cars in a convenient and centrally located space. New Biology Degree at UW Bothell
UW Bothell’s new Science and Technology Program began offering a biology degree this winter. The new degree provides students with a foundation in biology that will enable them to pursue careers or graduate study in medicine, dentistry, health, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, ecology, biology and biology education. The curriculum combines theory with hands-on experience that draws on UW Bothell’s strengths: small classes; strong faculty-student mentorship; integrative, problem-based teaching approaches; and research and internship opportunities outside the classroom.
“We’re very excited to be able to offer this wonderful opportunity to our students,” says Professor and Science and Technology Program Director Warren W. Buck.
By fall the program was fully enrolled with more on a wait list. In addition to biology coursework, students are required to take a course in bioethics and a course connecting biology and society.
