Q:What is the Husky Rides Program?
A:Husky Rides is a bike program available for UW Bothell Student Housing residents only. Bikes are accessed in the Community Center at Husky Village. All that is needed to utilize a bike is a valid Husky ID.
Q:Where can riders take the bikes?
A:The bikes can go anywhere as long as the bike is returned within a 4 hour time period. There are several places to ride in the greater Bothell Area. The Sammamish and Burke Gilman trails are very popular and SAFE places to ride. Also, there are bike lanes in many different areas of the City of Bothell. You may use your bike to go to the grocery store if needed.
Q:What is provided in a bike rental?
A:A bike helmet, spare tire tube, bike maps and an optional grocery bag.
Q:What if I get a flat tire?
A:We provide everything you need to change a tire. If you get a flat and are unable to change it, you will be on your own to find your way back to campus. Our bikes are regularly maintained therefore bike flats will be something you will need to take ownership of. It is highly recommended you take your phone with you during your bike rides.
Q:What if I damage the bike?
A:Any and all damages will result in fines responsible by the rider. This could include repairing the damaged part of the bike to replacing the bike entirely.
Q:Click to View Quick Tips:
A:Shifting Gears
For multi-speed bicycles, riders should shift gears BEFORE reaching an incline. Shifting gears while ascending produces excessive strain on the bicycle’s drivetrain (derailleurs and chain) and can result in serious mechanical problems. There are many hills in the Bothell area, so practice on a small hill to get used to doing this.

Riding on the Road and Certain Rules of the Road
Riders should avoid riding on sidewalks. It is much safer to ride along the right side of a drivable lane than to share a path with pedestrians, especially when crossing intersecting streets or driveways, as drivers are usually not watching out for cyclists on the sidewalk. It is also ILLEGAL to ride a bicycle on certain sidewalks. You could get a ticket! Riders should use proper hand signals. Ride WITH traffic, not against it. When riding at night, be sure to use front and rear lights so that you are easily visible.

Maintenance
Don’t hesitate to let us know about any issue your bike has with maintenance problems. Minor issues can easily turn into major problems if ignored. This includes buildup of rust which can be scraped and painted.

Phone Numbers
