EC minutes of October 25, 2004 were unanimously approved.

Leadership Fund - Liz Swanson, Director of Development and Alumni Relations

Kevin introduced Liz Swanson and welcomed her to EC. Liz responded that she appreciated the opportunity to talk with the EC and share information on the Bothell Leadership Fund. The Fund was initiated by pledge commitments from Steven Gilbert and Stephen Handley to establish a fund in support of UWB faculty, staff and students to advance leadership skills for service of the community. Fund Use:

This Fund will built upon the distinctive character of UWB and draw the community to campus, it will help to promote UWB as a cultural hub in the region and provide a legacy for the Bothell campus. The goal of the Fund is to generate an endowed fund of $50,000.00, which will yield $2500.00 a year toward leadership activities.

EC discussion points on the UWB Leadership Fund:

Liz appreciated the input and feedback from the faculty and distributed handouts on the Campaign UW and the Mission and Vision Statement of the UWB Office of Development and Alumni Relations. She stressed the importance of developing relationships with the community and donors and the collaborative effort that faculty, staff and students have in that process. The UW Capital Campaign will allocate $5.7 million to UWB for student scholarships, faculty support and program support.

Update on co-admission/co-enrollment pilot project - Tana Hasart, Associate Vice Chancellor and Director, Student Affairs

Tana updated the EC on the co-admission/co-enrollment project at UWB. She began the discussion on what co-admission/co-enrollment is and is not to clarify what will be accomplished through this model. The long-range goal of the project is to arrive at a model that will guarantee admission to one or more the BA programs offered by UWB. This model will be a good recruiting tool for UWB and facilitate blending in the middle to meet student's needs for lower division. Co-admission/co-enrollment will:

The Co-Admission/Co-Enrollment Task Force has outlined phases of student involvement in the process and determined that this model may not work for every program at UWB. The Task Force will present a detailed proposal by mid-winter.

EC discussion points on co-admission/co-enrollment:

Next Monday the GFO meeting will be dedicated as a listening session, during which members of the EC advisory group can hear from all faculty on the matters currently under discussion regarding lower division planning.
