New Program Procedures
Susanne Sikma indicated that the group developing new program procedures had received the new Higher Education Coordinating Board process outline and will be meeting to discuss them in mid May.
GFO Committees and Elections
It was recommended that the Academic Affairs and the Curriculum Committee be combined for next year.
A copy of the description of each GFO committee will be sent to the EC members to assist them in discussing committee memberships with their Programs. Separately, EC consensus was that senior lecturers are eligible for GFO chairmanship.
Faculty Honors
Jack Meszaros distributed a draft of a letter to Hung Dang, UWB Registrar, clarifying issues relating to faculty honors bestowed upon students. The EC discussed the issue and unanimously approved the letter.
Miscellaneous
Jack Meszaros gave a brief summary of issues being raised at the three campuses regarding the faculty code.
Bill Kelleher will be invited to attend the next EC meeting to continue discussions regarding the UWB budget.
Ray Lou suggested one topic for the faculty retreat might be discussion regarding the establishment a mentor program across campus.
It was decided to cancel the May 9 General Faculty Organization meeting and the June 6 Executive Council meeting.
