Diversity Programmers
Diversity programmers educate the campus on differences and similarities between groups and individuals while promoting a welcoming environment. They encourage students to promote acceptance and inclusiveness in their daily lives while becoming global citizens.
Current Diversity Programmers
Hello everyone! My name is Chelsea Lubong and I am a sophomore majoring in Biology at UW Bothell. I was born and raised in San Diego, California. At the age of six, I began moving to various places every three years. I've had the opportunity of living in places such as Italy and Japan. Being exposed to a vast amount of different cultures and people with different backgrounds is what really led me to want to be a Diversity Programmer. The thing I love most about my job is the fact that I get to work and interact with a lot of students, faculty and staff from different backgrounds and people in general that have different life experiences. From there, I get to learn how they have become the person they are today. On a day to day basis, I learn something new from so many people. Being a Diversity Programmer truly puts a smile on my face!
I have lived in the Seattle area my whole life, I live so close to school that I can (and usually do) walk to school. I am currently a junior in the LEPP program; I want to use my degree to work in higher education. I love being a Diversity Programmer because of the fantastic creative opportunities it provides. Being able to enhance my fellow student's experiences at college and educate them in a way that is both fun and informative is a dream job! It also allows me to deepen my own understanding of diversity so that I can become an ally to those I can, as well as develop my own strengths in areas where I don't "fit the norm". Above all, I want to help make UW Bothell a place where everyone feels safe and respected.
