Mission
The Center embraces a broad definition of interactive media and we create new digital experiences of all kinds, with a specific imperative to investigate how technology, creative arts and education can combine to enhance and enrich our lives. The Digital Next Center functions as something like a digital experience poetry slam – we liberally pull ideas and inspiration from fields as diverse as visual and performing arts, gender and cultural studies, film, education, data visualization, entertainment games and the sciences, and we mash those ideas up into interactive experiences that spark conversations about the future of our digital lives. The experiences we build range from grant-funded and industry sponsored projects to the whimsical and purely speculative, and our students and faculty play a large role in both the conception and realization of everything we create. All of our work is designed and produced within a context of rigorous critical inquiry, and analysis of both the work itself and how the work contributes to various discourses and funds of knowledge is woven into all aspects of the student experience.

We are located on the first floor of the Beardslee Building.
