Using Contacts in Outlook Web Access 2003

Unlike the older versions of Outlook Web Access (OWA) used at the UW Bothell, Outlook Web Access 2003 is fully synchronized with your Outlook contacts and vice versa. Thus, when you are home, you will have access to all your contacts and distribution lists.

You can see your addressbook, by clicking on the word Contacts in the lower-right corner of your screen:

When you click on Contacts, you should see a window like this one:

To edit a contact, double-click the name.

Using Contacts while composing email

Naturally, the purpose of using Contacts is to help you compose emails without having to memorize many email address. As mentioned before, OWA is synchronized with your Outlook Contacts, but the usage is a little different as you will see.

Let's say you want to write a new message. Click on the little black arrow, pointing down, next to the word 'New'. You will now see a list of options. Select Message.

You will now see the following window, click To...

You will see the following screen. Here, you will have to search for the address you want to send to, before you can use it. If you want to look in the UW Directory, choose Global Access List. If you want to search in your own personal addressbook, chose Contacts. From there, give some kind of search criteria, such as Last Name, then click on the "Find" button on the right-hand side.

If a match was found, you will see a window like this:

If it is the address you want to use, click on it, so it is highlighted, and at the bottom of the window click on whether you want to put this address in the To: line of your email, Cc:, or Bcc:. In the compose email window, the email address will now appear. You can now close the address search window and finish your email.
