Training Resources

Information Systems provides basic computer training and some software training to faculty and staff. We offer workshops, one-on-one training, and documentation. Although instruction is limited to UWB specific computing issues, faculty and staff also have several options for computer-related training outside of IS. UW Catalyst Tutorials

The UW Catalyst website offers an in-depth overview of the following Office 2007 programs:

"Up to Speed" Interactive Tutorials Covering Office 2007 Layout

Microsoft's website provides a free interactive step-by-step tutorial which provides an overview of the new layout and features found in each of the Office 2007 programs.  These tutorials are designed for computer users who are already familiar with Office 2003.

Command Reference Guide for Office 2007 Menus

Refer to these interactive reference guides to learn where the old Office 2003 commands are located in the new Office 2007 interface. Click on any of the following links to find each guide. Once you launch a guide, rest the mouse pointer over a  menu or button to learn its new location.

Office 2007 Online Courses through UW

Element K is another online self-paced training resource to support your learning. You can sign up for Element K through UW. It's only $79 for an annual subscription through December 31, 2008.  Courses cover 1,600 applications for use in Macintosh, Windows and Unix/Linux environments.

The UW Seattle campus offers free and low-cost computer training to students, staff, faculty and alumni of the University of Washington.
