Account Information for Faculty and Staff

UW Bothell Accounts

UW Seattle Accounts

Accounts administered by the University of Washington Bothell

Exchange accounts. Information Technologies provides local accounts for all faculty and staff at UWB on our Exchange server, providing email, shared calendaring, task lists, and more through Outlook.

Computer (NT) logon accounts. Anyone using a computer at UWB needs an account to log on to that computer.

File server space. Faculty and staff are automatically given 500MB of storage space on the file server Mercury.

Use of these accounts and computers at UW Bothell is governed by University of Washington policies. See Knowing the Rules for information about ethics, copyright, privacy, and guidelines for appropriate use.

In all cases your account username will be first initial, last name. In the case of duplication, additional letters will be added from the first name until a unique username is found.

How do I get a computer logon account?

Logon and Exchange accounts for faculty and staff are created as new hires take place. Departments can notify the helpdesk of new faculty and staff by filling out the form at http://www.uwb.edu/computing/netops/ntrequest.xhtml, sending email to IT@uwb.edu, or by calling 425-352-3456. For more information about requesting accounts, refer to http://www.uwb.edu/computing/netops/account.xhtml

What do I do if I forget my UWB Account password?

Proof of identification is required for password changes in order to safeguard your mail, files, and data. Faculty and staff can call the Helpdesk at 425-352-3456. You may be asked to come to the helpdesk (LB2-218) with a picture ID if you are not personally known to helpdesk staff.

Your password can probably be reset immediately. If no account administrators are immediately available, your password will be reset in no more than four business hours from the time of request.

Accounts administered by University of Washington Seattle

Seattle administers the UW NetID, which is your personal identification for using network and computing services at UW Seattle. It gives you access to Pine email on the Homer or Dante servers, along with access to various other UW services such as dial-in modem pools, web publishing, and more. Your UW NetID is your login name on Uniform Access accounts and is used to form your UW Seattle email address.

More information about what you can do with your UW NetID can be found at the UW Computing Communications (C&C) UW NetID Computing Services web page.

C&C's About UW NetIDs is another good starting place for general information.

Getting a UW NetID

Faculty, staff, and students can create their own UW NetIDs on the web. You do not need to come to the helpdesk or call Seattle. To create your UW NetID, see Creating a UW NetID and Password.

What do I do if I forget my UW NetID password?

See What to do when you forget your UW NetID password. Students can probably fix their own password problems on the web. Faculty and staff will need to call C&C's helpdesk at 206-543-5970.
