Admission to the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies is selective. To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following program requirements:
Intermediate Algebra: 5 credits
Foreign Language: 10 credits
English Composition: 5 credits
Quantitative and Symbolic Reasoning (QSR): 5 credits
Visual, Literary and Performing Arts (Humanities): 15 creditsIndividual and Societies (Social Sciences): 15 creditsNatural World (Natural Sciences): 15 credits
Visual, Literary and Performing Arts (Humanities): 10 creditsIndividual and Societies (Social Sciences): 10 creditsNatural World (Natural Sciences): 10 credits
In addition to specific admission requirements, the IAS Undergraduate Admission Committee looks for coursework relevant to the IAS curriculum (see the course catalogue), and a well-written and thoughtful goal statement that addresses:
Grades are considered, with more weight given to grades in relevant coursework and grades in later coursework. Applicants who are deficient in Intermediate Algebra and/or Foreign Language will not be considered until the deficiency has been completed.
IAS conducts a holistic review of all applications. A 2.5 minimum cumulative gpa is expected. Special circumstances may allow for admission of students with lower cumulative gpa's (between 2.0 and 2.4).
