The Community-Based Learning and Research Faculty and Staff Fellows Program is designed to promote faculty and staff development of community-based scholarship and to create pathways for students to deepen their community engagement within academic structures across the campus. The program is intended to significantly enhance the capacity of faculty or staff to offer courses and conduct research that directly engages the university in the development of reciprocal partnerships with specific communities.
Each year, fellows have the opportunity to create or extend community-based work in courses, conduct innovative research, and participate in strategic planning for the next steps in support of community-based learning and research at UW Bothell. Projects involve student engagement and community partners in one or more of the following:
- Existing or new lower division courses (including Discovery Cores, elective 100- and 200- level courses, and Living Learning Community projects).
- Existing or new upper-division courses within majors
- Collaborative research projects
- Collaborative projects that sustain community partnerships
- Assessment of community-based learning experiences
