Taking Care of Mr. Yuck!
Communications Manager, Washington Poison Center
As the spokesperson for the Washington Poison Center (of Mr. Yuk! Fame), I rely not only on my five years of experience at Families and Friends of Violent Crime Victims, but on the writing and communications skills I developed at UWB as well. As a student, I visited the Career Center with a clear goal in mind-to get work in a capacity that included a public speaking role. I had a hard time narrowing all of my experiences into a package attractive to potential employers. I recognized my goals by researching organizations and association that surrounded public speaking, and then targeted them by crafting a specifically customized resume. The Career Center really helped me focus and tailor my resume towards the career I really wanted. As a result, I nailed the perfect job! I am currently preparing to enter graduate school to study Leadership and Organizational Development.
