John Godek is a full time Lecturer in Marketing at the UWB School of Business. He obtained a PhD in Marketing and a M.S. in Psychology from the University of Michigan, an MBA from the University of Houston - Clear Lake, and a B.S. in Management from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He previously taught Marketing and Entrepreneurship for six years at the University of Oregon, and also spent two years teaching Leadership and Management at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
His research interests include consumer and managerial decision making, with special emphasis on identifying the influence of firms' individual level marketing efforts (customization and personalization) on consumers' decision processes and choices. His research was awarded the Franco Nicosia Award for the Best Competitive Paper at the Association for Consumer Research annual conference, and has been published in the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes.
Prior to earning his PhD, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard for over ten years, serving on ice breakers and law enforcement cutters.
