Jim Hebert is the president and founder of Hebert Research, Inc., and one of the top researchers and forecasters in the country, who has been tracking and forecasting our region's and the nation's economic performance for over 20 years. Hebert Research does in-depth studies on consumer segments, vertical markets, and industry performances for large local and national businesses.
As the Senior Research Director of Hebert Research, Jim Hebert oversees the company's research activities as well as direct responsibility for his portfolio of research projects.
For over 30 years the company has served more than 5,000 companies and organizations in the United States. The company’s major clients include Costco, Tropicana, Oh Boy! Oberto, Quaker Oats, Microsoft, Bellevue Square Mall, Pepsi, Frito, SC Johnson, Toyota, Car Toys, T-Mobile, AT&T, Nintendo.
Mr. Hebert’s intellectual specialties involve research procedures for demand forecasting, price elasticity, measuring and predicting customer satisfaction, the building of business confidence indices, and new product development. These methods were used for the market development of U.S. West Cellular Telephones, Microsoft Windows and hundreds of other products within the retail sectors.
Mr. Hebert is also the adjunct Director of Research for Costco, the nation’s leading wholesale membership club, and has supervised all of the market and economic research studies the firm has completed over the last three decades.
Jim Hebert’s formal education was obtained from the University of Washington and Seattle University with an MBA. In 1996, Mr. Hebert was appointed an adjunct Professor of Business at the University of Washington and then in 2006 as a Professor of Business at Seattle University's graduate school of business. He specialized in teaching new product development and retail and statistical analysis. In addition, he won the Distinguished Lectureship Award from the University of Washington.
Mr. Hebert has been constantly publishing about 50 articles a year. He is a columnist for the Bellevue Reporter. He also is a frequent public speaker including television interviews. Some of his very recent November 2010 speaking engagements include economic trends reviews for: National Association of Residential Property Managers, Northwest Marine Trade Association, Institute of Management Consultants and Master Builders Association of Pierce County.
On a personal basis, Mr. Hebert grew up at Mount Rainier National Park where he learned to love the outdoors and the importance of preserving the quality of the environment. His commitments to the community are demonstrated in his Board of Director positions with the following organizations:
