Prerequisites

Because the Bachelor Degree in Business Administration is an upper division program, students begin the program after already completing substantial coursework. Certain prerequisites must be completed prior to matriculation (the start of studies at UWB). In addition, some prerequisites must be completed prior to application.

Prerequisites for Matriculation

Admitted students must complete a minimum of 80 transferable quarter credits (90 credits preferred), with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a 2.5, prior to beginning their business studies at UWB. These credits must include all of the following prerequisite courses (with a minimum grade of 2.0 in each):

  • Business prerequisite courses (listed with Community College Common Course Numbering)
    • Statistics (MATH& 146)
    • Calculus (MATH& 148 or 151)
    • Introduction to and Fundamentals of Financial Accounting (ACCT& 201 and 202)
    • Fundamentals of Managerial Accounting (ACCT& 203)
    • Microeconomics (ECON& 201)
    • Macroeconomics (ECON& 202)
    • Introduction to Law (BUS& 201 or POLS& 200)
    • Advanced English Composition (ENGL& 102)
  • General education prerequisite courses
    • 5 credits of Composition.
    • 15 credits of Quantitative Reasoning.
    • 15 credits of Natural Science (The Natural World).
    • 15 credits of Humanities (Visual Literary and Performing Arts).
    • 20 credits of Social Science (Individuals and Societies).
    • 2 years of a single foreign language in high school or two quarters of a single foreign language in college (American Sign Language applies).

Admission is contingent upon the student's satisfaction of these requirements prior to the beginning of the academic quarter for which he or she has been admitted.

Prerequisites for Application

To be considered for admission, applicants should complete the following minimum requirements prior to applying to the program:

  • Complete 70 transferable quarter credits (with a cumulative GPA at least 2.5.)
  • Complete at least five of the required business prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of 2.0 in each (typically a higher grade is necessary for admission). The five courses should include each of the following:
    • Micro & Macro Economics
    • Accounting (200 level)
    • Statistics
    • College Algebra or higher (preferably Calculus)

Prospective students must indicate on their application when they expect to complete the remaining prerequisite courses.

  • Take the Writing Skills Assessment Test.
    • You may submit your score from the SAT Written Exam instead of taking the WSA. NOTE - The SAT W began in March, 2005 - SAT scores taken prior to this date are not valid
  • International students must provide proof of English proficiency -  English Proficiency Requirement.
