
Excellence in Leadership Awards
The Universal Leadership Conference will recognize individuals and organizations whose attitudes and behaviors contribute to the welfare of the on and/or off campus community in an extraordinary way. We hope to encourage, support, and reward extraordinary people for their leadership efforts and commitment to service. Nominate someone for an award today! Nominations must be received by April 5, 2013.
Award Descriptions:
Excellence in Student Leadership
This award is designed to recognize a college or university student who has demonstrated, and continues to demonstrate, a strong commitment to academic and civic pursuits while exhibiting exemplary leadership skills through their involvement with clubs, jobs, or other life experiences and by serving as a well-respected role model within their community.
To nominate someone for the Excellence in Student Leadership Award, click on the link below. You will need to upload an essay, 2-5 double spaced pages, Times New Roman 12-pt font, that addresses all of the following:
1. Describe the person being nominated: their jobs, involvement, leadership positions, work and personal experiences, and personality.
2. Explain how the individual demonstrates a commitment to service and the community. Include information about specific actions the individual has taken to position them as a role model.
3. Provide details about the relationships the individual has formed with other students and co-workers, and the impact the individual has made in the lives of others.
4. Give 1-3 specific reasons why the individual should be granted an Excellence in Student Leadership Award. (What is the individual doing to lead and set an example for others? What are the individual's future ambitions and goals for her/his own life? What is the individual's vision for the future of their community?)

Outstanding Staff/Faculty Leader Award
This recognition will be awarded to a college or university advisor, faculty, or staff member who has made a significant impact in the lives of students by: providing a significant amount of support and encouragement to students and student organizations; creating a stable environment (within their classroom, office, etc.) where students may excel and grow as individuals; and demonstrating a commitment to the well being of students and the community.
To nominate someone for the Outstanding Staff/Faculty Leader Award, click on the link below. You will need to upload an essay, 2-5 double spaced pages, Times New Roman 12-pt font, that addresses all of the following:
1. Describe the person being nominated: their job position, experience, and personality.
2. Explain how the individual demonstrates a commitment to students. Include information about specific actions the individual has taken to assist students and student organizations.
3. Provide details about the relationships the individual has formed with students and co-workers, and the impact the individual has made in the lives of students.
4. Give 1-3 specific reasons why the individual should be granted an Outstanding Staff/Faculty Leader Award. (How is this individual a Staff/Faculty Leader? What is the individual doing to lead others? What innovative activities does the individual take part in to better the success of the students she/he serves?)

Organization Achievement Award
This award will recognize student-run organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills to plan and facilitate events that benefit the community.
To nominate a student organization for the Organization Achievement Award, click on the link below. You will need to upload an essay, 2-5 double spaced pages, Times New Roman 12-pt font, that addresses all of the following:
1. Describe the organization's overall structure, purpose, and mission.
2. Give 1-3 examples of events the organization has held between January 2012 and December 2012. For each event, identify which community the event served, the type of service the particular event provided, and how many people benefited from the event. Please include the name, purpose, and structure of each event.
3. Provide details about the planning process of the event(s) described. How did the organization demonstrate superior leadership and organizational skills?
4. Assess the success of the event(s).What were the outcomes of the event(s)? What feedback did the organization receive? What makes success of the event(s) evident?

Important Information
Applications will be accepted by individuals hoping to receive the award, as well as individuals nominating another person for award consideration.
All essays have to be typed and at least 2 pages long, but not to exceed 5 pages; 12 point size font, Times New Roman font, and double spaced.
All nominees must be 18 years of age or above to be considered for an award.
If you are nominating someone, that person or organization will be notified that they have been nominated, but we will not let them know who nominated them, unless stated otherwise by filling out the “Release of Name” Form.
To be considered for an award, the nominee/applicant, nominator, or at least one representative of the nominated organization must be a registered participant of ULC 2013.
