University of Washington Bothell Grants
The University of Washington Bothell is dedicated to creating broad funding opportunities for faculty and academic staff to encourage and support excellence in research and educational activities. Major opportunities include:
Teaching & Scholarship Enhancement Projects 2008. Three endowments at the University of Washington Bothell, support faculty projects for the enhancement of teaching and scholarship: Worthington Scholar, Worthington Technology, Rose Endowment Award. This announcement combines all three and invites projects that can be funded under any one of the three endowment requirements.
Worthington Academic Distinction Award. The Worthington Academic Distinction Program has been created to support major developments in UW Bothell programs that will promote widely recognized excellence in the supported areas. These projects, which include the establishment of new majors and centers, support academic program development and improvements that extend beyond the work of a single faculty member. There will be no Academic Distinction Award competition in 2008.
Worthington Academic Distinction Award Recipients
Research Circles. Small cohorts of three to four faculty and academic staff meet regularly during the academic year to discuss their scholarship and professional writing. Each participant is supported by a modest stipend for research materials and travel, as well as "seed money" for innovative research.
Teaching Circles. Small cohorts made up of faculty and academic staff agree to meet regularly during the year to discuss their teaching and learn more about each other's classroom strategies. Modest stipends of $300 are available to each participant for expenses incurred during the academic year related to teaching and/or research efforts.
