ors website upgrade

The ORS webpage is undergoing major revisions to provide 24/7 access to research administration support.

The site now features a number of new Research in Action videos featuring Professors Warren Gold, Martha Groom, Kanta Kochhar-Lindgren and Cheryl Cooke, among others.

teaching & scholarship enhancement projects

Generous financial support from several donors, notably Richard and Lois Worthington, has made it possible for the University of Washington Bothell to offer an annual competition for proposals designed to enhance teaching and scholarship across the campus.

This award, and appreciation for the current PIs whose grants ultimately funded it, were given at the Faculty Recognition Ceremony on June 1. Congratulations to Carrie Tzou, Assistant Professor, Education, whose highest scoring proposal "Connecting school science learning with at home activities: Documenting learning through a science backpack program" will be funded from Research Cost Recovery Funds.

Additional recipients include Cinamon Hillyard and Peter Nye; Antony Smith; Rebecca Price; Kelvin Sung; Jean Eisele; and Warren Gold.

husky paws on science!

Throughout the weekend of April 9-11, UW research was featured in exhibits, demonstrations and lectures at the Pacific Science Center.

Our own Dan Jaffe and Warren Buck represented UW Bothell with displays and educational materials on the Greenhouse Effect and an atomic matter game. Guess whose research is whose!

uw bothell research symposium

The first-ever UW Bothell Research Symposium was held on Friday, October 23 in the North Creek Events Center. Faculty members from numerous UW Bothell programs met in panels to discuss various aspects of education, community and business. For more information, visit the 2009 UW Bothell Research Symposium website at: http://www.uwb.edu/research/symposium2009.

The date for the second annual Research Symposium will be announced in Fall 2010.

training opportunities

The Office of Research Support offers various types of training from groups to one-on-one settings. Topics range from faculty effort, internal processes, grant expenditure compliance and cost sharing. One example is the interactive web-based proposal writing workshop for the National Science Foundation's Course, Curriculum and Laboratory Improvement (CCLI) program offered in Fall 2009.

The Office of Research Support will be sponsoring a research orientation for new faculty on September 28-29, 2010 on the UW Seattle campus.  We hope you can join us!
