Teaching

I am pleased to join IAS as a 2006-2007 Teaching Fellow in the Project for Interdisciplinary Pedagogy. My primary goal as an instructor is to help students develop the skills that will serve them well as scholars and as thoughtful human beings: reading critically, formulating arguments clearly, and writing and speaking effectively. The content of my courses - geographical analysis of migration, political theory, or gender, for example - provides a framework for this development.

Last course taught:
GEOG 310: Immigrant America

Research/Scholarship

My training as a geographer has been varied, including specializations in urban studies and planning, gender and feminist theory, and the political geographies of globalization. My dissertation research examines the changing meanings of national citizenship amidst contemporary globalization, using the case study of Americans living abroad.
